John P. Lewis: Textures and Realism: Turing tests for visual computation
J.P. Lewis is a senior research programmer at Weta Digital and an associate professor at Victoria University of Wellington. In the past he has worked in academic and industrial research labs, as well as in the movie industry at Industrial Light and Magic, Disney, and elsewhere. He has published in journals and conferences including Transactions on Graphics, IJCV, and others, and has credits on a couple of movies including Avatar, The Matrix sequels, and Forrest Gump. Several of his algorithms have been adopted in the movie and games industries and incorporated in Matlab and commercial graphics software packages. His research interests include applications of statistical learning and computer vision in the Arts.
